Welcome to my photo album of this weekend’s TUDOR United Sports Car Championship race at Watkins Glen International for the Sahlen’s 6 Hours of the Glen. I’m going to start off by saying this was my first proper sports car race, and I got to feel like I was 8 years old again (I probably acted that way too), even though I’ve been following sports car racing for years. My apologies that the pictures are all over the place and don’t really tell the whole story of the race itself. There was a lot more to take in. We start off in the pit lane on Sunday morning at 9:30 AM local time. Enjoy...
Within minutes of arriving in the pit lane I got to meet Patrick Dempsey......’s team.
Aston Martin V12 Vantage a.k.a. Sexy Beast
Paul Miller Racing, my home team from Summit, NJ!
With the factory #4 Corvette C7.R still being repaired after its Le Mans crash, Labre Competition was nice enough to lone their car to Doug Fehan’s team for this race.
Martini colors look good on anything, especially a 2006 Courage LC70 with an LS3 engine.
IHG Rewards Club RLL BMW Z4 GTE
Some of the drivers of this car just won some race in France I think...
‘scuse me miss, I’m trying to take a picture of that car there!
John Hindhaugh (right). Voice of Le Mans. Coolest guy in town.
Turn 1 and the Corvette car corral.
You can’t tell from here but we had a great view of turn 1. You could feel the ground shake as cars fought for grip heading up towards turn 2.
The Ligier JS P2-Honda...It needs MORE POWER!!! but it’s gorgeous
Deltawing...judge for yourself. I love it, but remember I’m 8 years old today.
Waiting at the bus stop. That phone case though!
No. words. chin. on. ground.
Back from our walk through the paddock and sadly not in 1996 anymore, there is still a race going on. That’s the Whelen Corvette cutting it very close out-braking some GTD cars into T1.
Unfortunately some of these pictures are out of order and I can’t figure out how to rearrange if that’s even possible on Kinja, but before the image of T1 and after the image of the Deltawing in the pits, I was up at the top of the grandstands, and had the honor of meeting some people I care a great deal about... Thanks IMSA Radio (radiolemans.com) for doing what you do. You are the best in the business.
Sorry, I had to be that guy to ask Giancarlo Fisichella for a selfie.
This one is very special - the new Ginetta Juno LMP3. I got to talk with the lead engineer of this car for a solid ten minutes, and I can confidently say this car is going be a big deal on the sports car stage in the next few years.
Sad the Ligier is out, but at least I get to see it up close now!
The Deltawing team just got back from another Walmart run to snag tires off the Barbie Big Wheel trikes.
After waiting out some rain showers underneath the pit lane grand stand, the rain started to let up and we walked back upstairs for the finish. The race resumed with only a handful of minutes remaining, but ended under safety car after the Aston Martin crashed on the main straight. We took one last walk through the row of team haulers and tents to see the cars return from battle.
And we finish off in the garage just after the race because that’s when my phone died. The race can only be described as...epic. I’m not sure how it looked on TV, but seeing these cars in person is an experience you just can’t describe.
It’s one hell of a show, and you must see it for yourself.

love that pic of the deltawing tires - I have never seen those before! They look like they could come off my aunt’s 10yo Corolla. Agree - a really interesting race. I wish it hadn’t ended under caution, though I figure anybody that could be out in front after all that happened deserves it.
